The One Where 2024 Recap: Missionary Edition
Hey yall! Hope yall are so excited and ready for this new year!! 2025 is gonna be GREAT ONE! I am so grateful for the year 2024. It has been the greatest blessing to be able to be a missionary for all of 2024. I have had such a fun time. I have grown so much. I have been abe to see so many miracles every day. I have been able to come to know my Savior by learning about him and serving the people He loves. I have come to know Him by loving the people He loves and in turn I have been able to come to know how much He knows me and loves me!! 2024 will always be a year I look back on and am so grateful for!! It was a great week!! Let's get into it.....
Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• Our friends Gabbi and Nylah got baptized on Sunday! They were so happy! They are the cutest girls. Their mom is a member and has recently started coming back to church. They were so happy at their baptism!!
• We had exchanges this week! I got to go with Sister Draney. She is such a sweet, funny sister. She just has the best stories and I loved listening to her and just learning about her yesterday. We had many miracles. We talked to 83 people and found 3 people to teach! It's kinda crazy, they are serving in Laughlin, NV. It is the hottest place in our mission, so it was literally 75 degrees yesterday. Didn't even have to wear a sweater all day. So nice!!
• Our friend Linda continues to be the highlight of my week and we meet with her like 4 times a week, so that's awesome!! She loves the Book of Mormon. She told us that as she has been reading it, she has felt herself become more calm and peace filled. And we have seen that change in her as well. The word of God is powerful.
• We played pickleball today and that made me insanely happy. It is something that I miss very much from home.
Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• One of our friends that was going to be baptized tonight, we just found out that she is not actually married to the guy that she lives with and calls her husband. oop. So we have to post pone her baptism, but it seems liek she is still ready and willing to get married so she can be baptized. It was kind of sad, but I felt a prompting the other day to not be worried or stressed if the baptism doesn't work out this week. So when we heard that, I was able to stay calm and feel good about it. She just gets to have a little more time to really prepare to make this promise with God!
• There was a situation this week where this guy accused us of some things and made us feel really bad about ourselves. It was hard to take, because I have never been talked to so disrespectfully before. But after the fact, the spirit helped me to feel comforted. He helped me to know and realize that that guy doesn't know me, but God does and he knows my intentions and as long as I focus on Christ, my intentions are righteous.
Some funny things that made me laugh:
• My ankles were #breakin this week lol. I can't even tell you how many times they just like gave out and I rolled them lol. Like downstairs, on perfectly flat sidewalks, on many rocks, literally anything you could think of.
• We met a guy that carries around a snake stick wherever he goes. Picture included.
• That same guy wrapped all of his wife's presents for Christmas in saran wrap and she was furious about it lol.
• The Elders in my district have yet again made it their transfer goal to beat me in pickleball. Glad I could motivate them.
• We had a member dinner and we had a reenactment of a scene from Elf from their kids. It was great.
• This week I had yet again another comment on my eyes. I should just wear an eye patch on both my eyes.
• Sister Latu just makes fun of me all day long. It's so funny.
Drum roll please

Sister Rose time!!

Sister Rose time!!I have been thinking about the sacrament a lot this week. This new year is a chance where people feel this fresh new feeling and many goals to begin the new year and work towards to better ourselves. We see this new year with excitement!! The sacrament can be this exciting new start for us as well!! The sacrament should be treated as our rebaptism, where we get to reflect on what we want to change from the last week and wat we want to do better this week. It can be joyful!! As we make it such!! This is called repentance. Let's reflect on the joy that Alma the younger felt as he repented:
Alma 38:18-20
"18 Now, as my mind caught hold upon this thought, I cried within my heart: O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me, who am in the gall of bitterness, and am encircled about by the everlasting chains of death.
19 And now, behold, when I thought this, I could remember my pains no more; yea, I was harrowed up by the memory of my sins no more. 20 And oh, what joy, and what marvelous light I did behold; yea, my soul was filled with joy as exceeding as was my pain!"
Let's reflect on our goals and our efforts to be more like Christ during the sacrament this year!!
I love yall!
Sister Rose
