The One Where I Am Leaving MTC Land This Week!
Hey y'all! Another great week of MTC (or as some of us call it, Empty Sea). I am officially heading out to the great Las Vegas, Nevada on FRIDAY!! So crazy that it is so soon. Kinda freaking out, but we good. Here's some highlights from my week!:
Some happy things and what I learned from them:
- Ok so probably my favorite apostle ever is Elder Neil L. Anderson. I just love the way he speaks and h always answers like all m questions. He just speaks so intellectually and I love it. Well guess what.... Elder Neil L. Anderson spoke at our Tuesday night general authority devotional last week and I absolutely diedddd! I wanted to scream when they said his name. God is so aware of us. It is crazy. I wasn't sue if we were going to har one of the apostles speak, because we were only here for a short time. But God is so good and he knows us!! Elder Anderson was amazing and spoke about how we need to "leave our nets" and never go back to the life before our mission after we are changed by Jesus Christ, His Atonement, and this amazing work we are about to go do. SO GOOD!
- I just love watching people have gospel Aha moments. It is my favorite to see when people realize God's love for them and the extent and power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. My district had a lot of those moments this week and I was just grinning so hard.
- We got to go to the temple like 3 times this week. I LOVE THE TEMPLE! I challenge you all to go this week if you can. Go with a question and I know that God will answer that question for ou in the temple. I had a lot of anxieties this week and the going to the temple made all of them seem less daunting. I am so grateful.
- We played volleyball a lot this week which was so fun. I needed to have some fun.
- Sister Kelly got to the MTC on wednesday (one of my friends from college) and I was so overjoyed to see her!! I love her.
Some hard things and what I learned from them:
- My companion, Sister Smith, and I have been struggling a little with teaching in unity. This kinda made me anxious, because we are literally leaving this week and I need to be ready for the field! BUT an amazing teacher gave us super good advice and we have done lot better. We now switch the talkiing a lot in lessons and we try not to have one person dominating the other. We are becoming united.
- I am a wee bit scared about going to the field. Don't get me wrong I ready to get out of MTC Land, but the next step is in the field and that is scary. But I know that God knows how to succor His people. In fact He has perfect knowledge of it.
- It's a little weird that people are trick or treating today and here in oasis MTC Land we are just having another day lol. Kinda funny. This year I am dressing up as Sister Rose, representative of Jesus Christ
Some funny things that made me laugh this week:
- On Sunday at 3am, I woke up to the sound of a screeching, beeping sound. I got up to go check it out and guess what!! The fire alarm was going off. I thought I was dreaming, but then I saw another sister down the hall open her door too. And I knew I wasn't dreaming because we did some hand signals with each other to verify we weren't crazy. I went back in the room and told the other sister, " Sisters. Get up. It's the fire alarm." Surprisingly very calmly. Sister Smith got up and immediately started packing her suitcase and Sister Hayes started putting her hair up. I was like, " Sisters!! FIRE ALARM!" and got them to wake up a little and rush out the door with me. We went into a nearby gym with all the other sisters n the building and waited. Someone checked the building. And guess what!?! It was a false alarm. Funny joke y'all. Not a great time for a lil fire drill. It was so funny tho. I will add some pics of our reaction.
- Sister Smith got her finger stuck in a zipper ring on her shirt literally milliseconds after I told her that her finger would get stuck if she put her finger through it. I laughed so hard.
- Since it is Halloween, Sister Hayes and I decided to dress up as Joseph Smith and Emma Smith yesterday for classes. It was so funny. And it was perfect, because I also switched tags with Sister Smith (my companion) so I was fully Emma Smith. I'll add some pics because they are great.
- Also, THERE WAS MORE FARTING FROM THE SAME ELDER THIS WEEK! Crazy man.
And next on this episode is.........Sister Rose time!!!
This week I read the talk "The Tender Mercies of the Lord" by Elder David A. Bednar. SO GOOD. Everyone, go listen to it right now!! In it he talks about how God always gives us tender mercies and we just need to learn to recognize them and realize that God is there!! He says, " the Lord’s tender mercies do not occur randomly or merely by coincidence. Faithfulness, obedience, and humility invite tender mercies into our lives, and it is often the Lord’s timing that enables us to recognize and treasure these important blessings." Just amazing. I prayed to know what tender mercies God has given me that I didn't recognize ws Him at the time. I sat down and wrote down all of the tender mercies that I could think of this week and throughout my life. Let me tell you. God is so good. I had a massive list of things that were all because of Him that happened this week. I challenge you to do this ths week. God is there! God sees you! And He does answer prayers. Everything is because of Him.
Love y'all,
Sister Rose
