The One Where It Is 2024
Hey y'all! Its another week in North Las Vegas! Happy New Year!! 2024 is gonna be the best! Dang. I get to spend all of 2024 being a representative of Jesus Christ. I'm so lucky!! Lets get into it....
Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• The Lockhart family is doing well!! It has been chaos figuring out when Ai'jayane is going to be baptized. But now it is officially the 13th so that her mom can be there!! Yay! And her dad just got the priesthood so hebcan baptize her! We are so excited. They are doing awesome. They have just become such a close and happy family because of the gospel in their lives. Its awesome
• the cute lil grandma that we are teaching, absolutely trauma dumped on us last lesson. Its so crazy what she has been through in her life. I am so thankful for a home, a good family, and good morals. Even though it was hard to hear everything that she told us, it did help us to really know how to teach her best. We have POWER lessons with her and it is awesome.
• this story is a little TMI, but it was actually a miracle. So bear with me or just skip it lol. So we were in an apartment complex in our area that some sisters live in too. I had to go to the bathroom SO BAD. Like so bad. I said a prayer that I wouldnt pee my pants. Then I was like oh!! The sisters live here, what if they are home. But then i was like no way they are home because its 7:30 at night. But then i said a prayer that they were home. And we started RUNNING towards their apartment. And guess what.... they were home. They had been sick today so they were staying home. God answers prayers. Crazy.
Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• for this week, I think what I learned the most is to be of good cheer even when things arent going perfect. I could have been sad about a few things that happened this week. Which i did let myself for like one day. But then i slapped that sad little face of mine and remembered the commandment that God has given us: to rejoice, be joyful, lift up your head, and be of good cheer. Choosing to see the good and see the miracles makes all the difference.
• my area is TINY. Like so tiny. I have knocked every door in this area probably like 3 times already. It is all getting a little bit redundant, so thats a little difficult. But i am hanging in there and trying to change up my days a little bit. Its hard though.
Some funny things that made me laugh this week:
• We got a call during lunch one day from some elders in the Las Vegas West mission. They told us that a member was moving into our ward in like 30 min and to get people to help them. Um ok. How are we gonna do that in 30 min. Whatever. We called our district and gathered the missionary troops to help because our ward couldnt. The elders proceeded to send us a selfie of them. And then texted us " you sisters are amazing
have a great day" what??! A heart!?!?! Excuse me Im a missionary and so are you. No hearts up in here please.
have a great day" what??! A heart!?!?! Excuse me Im a missionary and so are you. No hearts up in here please.• Oh while we were moving these people we had to take this hunongous dresser up the stairs and it was chaos!! But we somehow (with the power of God) got it up there. And we built all of their beds for them. It was fun. Ish.
• We had THE worst day ever one of the days this week. Literally everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. It was honestly kind of funny by the end of it. Heres the sequence of what happened: our favorite friend canceled on us at the door and we had biked so far to get to her, then sister Rasmussens bike tire went completely flat, so I rode her bike back to our car (it was so hard and we were a 20 min bike ride away), I almsot peed my pants (story above), i ripped a hole the size of my face in my dress on a crashed car we were walking past, and then we got screamed at that we were going to hell by some lady who was literally running away from us. It was so funny by the end though
• During exchanges we get a call from the Hermanas in our area and they asked us to come pick them up from the side of the road. So we drove to them and picked them up. BUT they had their bikes and we didn't have a bike rack on out car. So we took the front wheel off of each of their bikes and tries to shove the bikes in and by the power of God, they fit. Sister Tautu held the wheels in the front seat while I drove them home because they were sick. Lolll I will add the pic.
Drum roll please

Sister Rose time!!

Sister Rose time!!Prayer man. Prayer is the best. My mission president pointed out something the other day. We need to make our prayers mensingful and powerful. We need to rmeber that we are LITERALLY talking to God as we pray. REMEMBER THAT! I used to just treat prayers as just another day talking to myself whatever whatever. BUT NO. We are literally talking to our Heavenly Father who created us, loves us, and has a plan for us. When we pray, tell Him about our day, ask him for help, tell him whay you are grateful for. Because He DOES hear your prayers, He DOES care, and He WILL help you. #thankfulforprayer
Go read Alma 34:17-26.
