The One Where Glass Doors Should Not Be a Thing

Hey yall! Another great work in Kingman. Sometimes I feel like I am not in America and this was one of those weeks. I love it! Let's get into it....

Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• Our friend Linda is just THE best ever. She is so short, the top of her head literally comes to the bottom of my ribs. But she is just like our little grandma. I love her. Guess what!?! Her baptism day is upon us! Long awaited, but it is this Saturday and she is so so so excited!! She told us yesterday that she just feels so ready! She feels like she has done the work(which she for sure has) and she feels ready to make this covenant with God. That is what the Atonement of Jesus Christ does for you people!! It brings you confidence. Confidence in the Lord and confidence in your abilities through Jesus Christ!!
• We had a lesson with a returning member and his fiancΓ©, Shi. Shi said that she wants to learn more about baptism and work towards it!! Such a miracle! They have gone through a lot in their lives and we were able to talk a lot about how Jesus Christ has helped them to overcome a lot of things!!
• We had so many people at church and it was a wonderful sacrament meeting in both our wards! Everyone enjoyed it so much!! I love the spirit that is felt during the sacrament. All of us joyfully repenting and recommitting to do the Lord's will brings a special spirit that is so overwhelming!
• I had exchanges with Sister Tokelau, whom I love very very much!! She is an STL also, we got to learn from each other and counsel how we can help each of our stewardships! I love learning from other missionaries!
• We really strive to bring members to every lesson, because it greatly increases the chance that our friends will progress. There was a lesson that we weren't able to get fellowship for, but it was just over zoom. We went to our dinner appointment with our member that we had actually never met before. We felt prompted to ask her if she could jump on the zoom with us. She was so happy too!! Well guess what!? She was PERFECT fellowship for our friend! They both have children with autism and she helped our friend to feel so comfortable with bringing her son to church. Members are so so important!! And God was s merciful with our imperfect efforts to help our friends.

Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• Sometimes things don't go as planned. And that is hard, but I am learning to be ok with it.
• Some peoples lives are just so hard. My mission has really opened my eyes to see how much heartache is around us. But Gods hand is still outstretched.

Some funny things that made me laugh:
• Sister Tokelau and I were knocking on a door that was a purely glass door (very awkward for both parties. A kid walked by and did a double take so hard that he might have gotten whiplash as he walked by the door. Then he ran up to the door, opened it so quick and said to wait a sec. Then we wait. And then about 5 min later an arm of a little girl pops out behind a dresser and it is holding a paper plate. The plate reads " Our mom isn't home sorry :(" hahaha. We walked away laughing so hard. That was so creative.
• Our friend called us to see if we had a lesson the other day. But we tell her that it is actually her baptismal interview!! She then goes "crap! Im sick, but I will be there!!" She told us to get someone to pick her up and that she will take a nap and leave the door unlocked so we can wake her up then its time to go! Hahahah so we do just that. Then we hobble her little self into the members car and to the church and into the interview and she passes with flying colors. Lolll she was just making super funny comments the entire time. I just love her! Such a trooper!!
• This guy pulled up to us yesterday in a white kidnapped, goes "Hey Buddy! How ya doin buddy?" In the weirdest voice. And I said "bye have a good day" and he drives away. Turns out he is actually a convert of about 4 years and just is really weird around sister missionaries. It was a funny situation.
• We parked next to this rooster that just would not shut up as we got our bikes ready to ride!! He literally sounded like he was about to die!!

Drum roll pleaseπŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ Sister Rose time!!
Go read the BYU speech "Stand Forever" by Lawrence Corbridge and tell me your thoughts!!

I love yall!
Sister Rose
