The One Where We Are Never Alone!!
Hey yall!! Its been a good past couple weeks!! We are just workin hard and loving every second! Its been a good time. Let's get into it.....
Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• Our friend went from nervous to excited when she learned of her new best friend: the Holy Ghost! You don't realize, or maybe you just take for granted the incredible gift you have until a child opens your eyes. "Why are you so excited to be baptized Maite?" She replies: "Because then I won't be alone anymore." #precious
• Our friend Alejandra is literally so precious! She is so ready to be baptized!! She's getting baptized this Saturday!! Yay! We taught her about fasting and she goes " Oh I actually learned about that yesterday at church and I decided to do that today!!" She had literally been fasting when we taught her about fasting! #presh
• A guy that we had talked to so briefly and got his number didn't reply to us for a bit a week. He finally reaches out and says " Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you. I am really interested in growing my faith in Christ!" Okkkkkk pretty fuego
• I had exchanges with Sister Morris and just felt so much zeal and excitement for the work!! I hadn't felt that much joy in the work in a while! It was so fun!! We found 3 people yesterday!
Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• We were talking with an old lady on her doorstep when her 40 year old son pushes past her. As soon as we see him we can tell we are in for it. "No, we're not interested in that garbage." I started to tense up. "We would really appreciate if you respected what we believe." "Yeah I respect what you believe!" "Thank you." "I respect that you believe in trash." The tension flares. That's when the spirit is truly on your coattails pulling you away. So, what do you do when you can't find common ground? On a call with our District Leader we told him the story. He affirmed that "That man has the moral backbone of a choclate eclair."
• We were teaching our friend who was about to get baptized. She had literally quit smoking, she reads the Book of Mormon everyday, she comes to church every week. We teach her about tithing about a week before her baptism and she says that she can't pay tithing. So sad. It is hard! But it's not us asking you to do it! It's God. That was sad. One day she will be able to baptized!! We are still going to be working with her!
Some funny things that made me laugh:
• We had the craziest zoom lesson with our favorite senior missionaries! One of our friends couldn't figure out how to turn on his microphone and the other someone had her camera flipped. We were hoping that they understood what we were teaching and felt the spirit! Later that night our friend texted us... "Yeah the zoom got my boyfriend and I into an argument to where he end up accusing me of [breaking the word of wisdom] just because he couldn't see my face and I couldn't see anything but the scripture from the Bible... So we called it quits."
• "I'd feel naked without you." 24/7 besties. Seriously glued at the hip now.
I don't have time for anything else. So sorry.
I love yall!
