The One Where A Butterfly is My Companion Now

Hey ya'l!! It was a great week in Foothills YSA! Spirits are up and I am doing a lot better than last week. So so sorry if I sounded depressed in my last email. I am alive and thriving this week. Lots of awesome things happened. Let's get into it.....

Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• We had zone conference this week..... with a general authority, Elder Homer!! It was such a powerful zone conference. He talked a lot about being joyfully urgent without being anxious. which I needed a reminder about. I have had a lot of anxieties with just new things coming up and training and just feeling like I am not doing enough. Bu we don't need to be anxious, God has got this. We just need to have joyful urgency.
• With that joyful urgency we had a really good finding week this week!! We found 20 people!! It was super cool to be able to bear my testimony of Christ and show that joyful urgency and really help the spirit to be able to touch their hearts!!
• We were in an apartment complex and saw this little kid run by laughing and then we saw his mom run by us too, laughing and then hugged him!! It was so cute. We asked her if they would like to hear a message of Jesus Christ, she goes, "ya! come on in!" So we go into her apartment. She said that she has been struggling with spirituality vs religion her whole life! We talked about how we can find lasting joy through Jesus Christ and read a few scriptures. all of a sudden, she stops us mid sentence and says, "ok, can you come back this time next week?" we were like OF COURSE! she is so cute! She doesn't want elders to teach her, so we are getting permission to teach her even though we are YSA missionaries. SO COOL!
• We were walking to our ward FHE in the park and we see this old couple walking in the parking lot. The husband was shuffling his feet and the wife was holding onto him o help him walk. I could tell he had dementia. The spirit old me to help them immediately. So I asked if we could help carry stuff or anything. The wife says that it is ok and we almost walked away. But the spirit told me to ask again. She then let me carry her bag she was holding. We walked with them to the car. He was stepping off the sidewalk to the road and his ankle gives out and he falls forward onto Sister Hanes and then I help catch him as well. The wife was behind him. Btu we were holding him up and we helped him to stand up again. It was so scary, but if the spirit hadn't told me to help him, he would have hit his face right into a security trailer that was parked right in front of them!! So grateful for promptings!!
• We got to play sand volleyball with our district this week and i was the best!
• We got to take two youth out with us for the day of missionary work!

Some hard things and what I leaned from them:
• I am learning how to be more patient and really communicate how I feel. Really important skills that I haven't learned until now, and I am still learning. Companions are so hard sometimes, but I am truly learning to love unconditionally and just have more charity. Sister Hanes is the best and I am learning so much from her. I am grateful to be her companion and trainer.
• I was feeling really sad that none of our friends could make it to church this Sunday. All of them were busy and it was feeling like it was my fault and all on me. But then I went in our room and prayed that a miracle would happen. Soon after, a girl that we had lost contact with asked for the address to church and then at church a guy brought his nonmember friend, s we were able to find him. So we had 2 friends at church !!!! so cool. This is literally God's work!

Some funny things that made me laugh:
• We found a butterfly with a broken wing in an apartment complex. So we picked it up and got a few pictures with it. Then we felt bad leaving it behind to die, so we decided to take it with us. I proselyted with it on my shoulder for a little bit. and then we took it in our car with us. But he started flying around, so we let him free. I guess he could fly with a broken wing after all. It was fun though. We named him Lellow, because he was yellow.
• We were on campus talking to everyone and I ask this one guy if he wanted to hear a message of Christ. He looks me right in the eyes and goes, "I'm late to class. But I love your eyes." Um ok. I did not know ho to react lolll. He walks away. IM A MISSIONARY!! crazy. wild. But honestly thanks guy.

Drum roll pleaseπŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ Sister Rose time!!
I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ! Easter is such an amazing time to reflect and really think about what he has done for each of us specifically. The other day I was studying about Jesus Christ and when he went through for me. I had a prompting to write down hard things that I have gone through and struggles I have faced. I looked at the list and began to tear up thinking that he went through all that I ever will go through and have gone through, plus EVERYONE ELSES LIST!! Wild. I was just humbled by the amount of love he has for me and all His children. This Easter season is so special. the knowledge that our Savior died for us, was resurrected for us, and felt everything we have gone through  for us NEEDS to be spread. Jesus has asked one thing, to come unto him and become like him. Hold up the light of Jesus Christ this week!

3 Nephi 18:24
Therefore, hold up your light that it may shine unto the world. Behold I am the light which ye shall hold up—that which ye have seen me do. Behold ye see that I have prayed unto the Father, and ye all have witnessed.

I love yall!
Sister Rose
