The One Where Sister Gariety Went Out With a Bang (Literally)
Hey ya'll! It has been a great week with some very bitter sweet moments and kind crazy moments. Transfers happened, so here is my transfer news... Sister Gariety ended her mission, so I had to say bye to my bestie today! I am staying in Foothills ysa and I am training.... ya I am absolutely terrified. My new sister comes in on Friday. Please send all the prayers please. I feel like I am a baby missionary (cuz I am). Lets get into this week....
Some happy thing and what I learned from them:
• We have had some awesome lessons with our friends Aidan, Khan, and Ty this week! they are progressing so well and our ward is just so good at fellowshipping them!!
• I am so grateful for Sister Gariety. She has taught me a lot about how a good friend should be. she has taught me that people need a listener and need to feel validated in their feelings. I am grateful for her example of Christlike charity for people. I am learning how to help people feel seen, heard, and understood and not an oober problem solver.
• We had an awesome exchange with some of my favorite sisters, Sister Jenks and Bird! They are the best and are amazing examples to me.
• One of the members in our ward suggested visiting a less active member in his neighborhood. We went over there and brought a different member that knew him too. We went to go over there and there was another guy there that was not a member with him! We found the guy and set up a time to meet with him again! So cool! Miracles happen with member referrals.
• Khan and Aidan came to church again this week!! Yay! They are feeling the spirit at church and staying!! I love church. i am so grateful.
• We went on a goodbye sushi date this week! So fun and delicious!
Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• Now for the title! Sooo something kinda scary happened this week, but we are all ok. We were at YSA FHE on Monday night. We left the activity because we had a lesson in the foyer of the church. We were having it with our returning member, Luis. We were about to end the lesson and Luis was saying the prayer when we hear the door to the church swing open and then hear something be chucked into the church. We hear a like "shhhh" sound. We open our eyes and see a lit fuse on a firework. We get up and start running. The firework explodes before we could get around the corner, so the firework explodes and something hit my leg. We ran around the church and out the other side door, because we thought that it was like dynamite or something. We got out of the church in time to see the little punk who threw it in the church get into a car and bolt away. But the car had no license plate on the car. We were walking away and I realized that my leg was actually hurting a lot. I looked down and my leg was bleeding a bit lol. But we were all ok and the only injuries were my leg and a little bit of my hair is singed lolll. It was a little bit terrifying and sad that someone did that to a church. I was angry at the boy at first, but then I realized that he must have grown up in a household where he was taught that was ok to do to people. I feel sorry for the kid. Praying for him.
• I had to say bye to Sister Gariety today. I am so sad. She is literally the best missionary ever and made the past 6 weeks the best ever!! I am so grateful for everything she taught me and I am so excited for her to get to see her family!! But don't worry, Sister Gariety is stuck with me, we are trauma bonded together (firework in church) and she will be my bestie forever whether she likes it or not. Love you Sister Gariety!!
Some funny things that made me laugh:
• Luis has an imaginary friend named Bruce. We are pretty sure that it is batman (Bruce Wayne), because Luis said that he has a cape. I love Luis, he is the same one that gave sister Gariety the stuffed chicken.
• Honestly kinda funny that I am training and that one did make me laugh, because I thought it was a joke when president told me lol.
• I DESTROYED everyone at pickleball today. #stillundefeated. But that also leads into my spiritual thought oops.
Drum roll please

Sister Rose time!!

Sister Rose time!!This month, Sister Vance (mission pres wife) invited all of us to work on one Christlike attribute this month. I chose humility. I am working on just giving it all to the Lord and putting my trust in him and only him. I have read a lot of scriptures that have helped me. One is D&C 112:10. It talks about how as we humble ourselves to God, he can answer our prayers. Love that. Also, I think training this transfer will help with that, because I am going to be #HUMBLED lol. Anyways, I want to invite you all to pick a Christlike attribute you want to work on this month and study it and set goals to improve. Will you do that?? Awesome. I can promise that as you do that you will be able to feel closer to your Savior as you strive to become more like Him. And you will be able to have help from the Holy Ghost so that you can know how to improve and and feel happy when you do.
I love ya'll!
Sister Rose
