The One Where I Didn't Hit 6 Months, YOU DID!!
Hey yall!! Another week in college with the YSA ward!! They are the best and I love it here so much. Next week is transfer week, so stay tuned to see if I stay or go!! Also, I hit 6 meses on my mission today. So weird. I don't know how I feel about it. Butttt..Let's get into it......
Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• We had an awesome lesson with Aidan on Thursday night! First of all, we found a member that finally clicked with Aidan!! #fellowshiptobesties!! And second of all, we PUT HIM ON DATE!! His baptismal date is May 4th!! I may have said "May the fourth be with you" and that helped him to choose the date!! We read through Mosiah 18 about when those people we were baptized and how happy and desirous they were to "enter into the fold of God." It was cool, you could see him open up and begin to realize the importance of baptism. That it is not just a pool party, but a promise with God that tells Him you are willing to follow him and he will bless you with His spirit for it!! SOOO Aidan is going to have "the fourth" with him on his baptism day!! Everyone pray for Aidan!!
• The spirit kept telling me that we needed to go to CSN on a day that we didn't plan to. We drove to CSN and walked around for a bit. We were walking back to our car and the cutest girl comes walking behind us. I got a prompting to talk to her even though we were going to be late for our next thing. She was interested and had such a light about her. I even thought she was a member at first. She said that she had just developed faith in Christ like 6 months ago and it has changed her life!! She said that she dated a member once. She said that she would love to come to church with us and see the prospective that we have and learn more about the church!! She is so cool!
• We had a lesson with a returning member who has been inactive for a long time. She is really trying to turn her life around and remembered the church and wanted God to be a part of that change. She forgot all about the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. When we taught it to her this week, the spirit was SO strong and she was just absorbing and writing everything down. At the end she just said that she was so grateful that we taught her this, because she is so grateful for living prophets and the knowledge that God still speaks and directs us NOW! It was so cool!!
• We met a girl that had lots of questions about the Plan of Salvation. We had a lesson with her this week. She had read the Plan of Salvation pamphlet and had tons of different questions that she had written down. Super cool! The spirit was so strong!!
• Our new friend Dana came to TWO general conference sessions on Sunday AND was taking notes in her notebook!! AND she asked if she had to be baptized into this church to go to the temple! Super cool. And she came to FHE on Monday. I just love her. We have super cool people we are teaching right now!!
• Got to play pickleball this morning!!
• Got to go to the temple this morning!!
Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• Sometimes I have moments, especially as a trainer that I just feel like I am failing. Or that what I am giving isn't enough. Our district was invited by our district leader to read the talk "The Imperfect Harvest" from April 2023 conference. This talk was an answer to my prayers. I know that God is aware of me, is proud of me, and loves me. I learned that perfectionism isn't the same as being perfected in Christ. I learned that my best is good enough. I learned that I just need to give my humble offering and trust that it will be perfected through Christ! I learned that if I could see myself in Christ's eyes, I wouldn't doubt myself at all. I need to do my best, but also trust!! I am good enough for my Savior. I am good enough for this work! Christ will always be there to lift me frim the depths. My humble offering will be made perfect through Christ.
Some funny things that made me laugh:
• One of our recent converts calls our weekly lessons with him his "counseling sessions" lolll. I promise that we do not counsel him with life stuff, we just talk about Jesus!! But at his lesson this week he brought up that he has crushes sometimes ahhaha and tried to get us to give him advice. We didn't, we just talked about Jesus lol. He didn't tell us who it wassss, but I have my guesses!!
• I brought up to Sister Hanes the other day that I have stilts at home and she just burst into laughter. She said that I surprise her everyday with some new and weird about me ahahha. I love keepin people on their toesss.
• Yesterday we knocked a door in an apartment complex. A little girl answered the door and we asked is her parents were home. She goes "ya, I can get them" and then yells to her mom around the corner. Her mom yelled something back, but we didn't really hear. Then the kid comes back and goes "She doesn't have any pants on right now!" Lolll. We will come back later then lil kid.
• Sister Hanes have had so much fun together this week!! We started singing our grateful list to each other every night. Love her hahaha.
Drum roll please

Sister Rose time!!

Sister Rose time!!I just loved conference this weekend! It is so cool that we get to hear directly from our Heavenly Father and what he needs to say to us through His messengers on the earth today!! One talk really stuck out to me. Well a lot of them did butttt you get it. But it was Elder Bednar's talk. He talked about being still and letting the spirit speak to you. He said that IF WE WILL, church, the temple, our homes, and other holy places can be a place of stillness. But it does take effort to be still. I have a VERY hard time being still. But I know that that is when the Holy Ghost speaks to us. When we are actively being still and seeking him!! So this week I am going to focus on being still more often. Letting the sacrament and my holy places BE holy places where I can hear and feel the spirit. Will you do that with me? I can promise that if you will, you will be still and hear Him more.
I love yall!
Sister Rose
