The One Where I Hit 10 Months!

Hey yall! It was a good week in the foothills YSA ward! I have officially hit 10 months on my mission. So crazy. Time is absolutely flying. Mission time is like a time warp or something. Let's get into it.........

Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• We went to go check on our friend last night who hasn't answered us for a few weeks to see what's up with him and probably have to stop teaching him. But we went there and instead taught him a restoration lesson. It was powerful. He said that he believes everything in the Book of Mormon and loves it, so he believes everything that we taught!! We decided to invite him to be baptized!! Chris is on date for September 15th!! Super cool. We also got to see his cute brand new week old puppies and that was adorable.
• Our precious other friend names Chris has faced a lot opposition in his life. He just has a lot of things he needs to overcome before being baptized. We have been having to help him take very very baby steps in his progression and this week he actually made it to the church for a lesson there!! One baby step accomplished.
• We went to the salvation army this week to sort out some food and help out. I love that service opportunity. It gives me life.
• We checked on our friend that we had to stop teaching the other day and it was exactly the right time to show up!! He had just gotten fired and so we said a prayer with him. Gods timing is perfect.
• We had a Book of Mormon reading day yesterday! We read from 6:30am- 9:30pm. Ot was awesome! I love the Book of Mormon. There were a few bumps in the road for me which I will list below....

Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• So do you remember how I am serving in a YSA ward??? Ya, well that means that we can only teach people who are 18-35 with no spouse or children. Definitely a small range. It's so hard sometimes, because we always find a lot of people to teach during the week, but we usually have to pass them off the family ward missionaries. Especially this week has been hard in that regard. We found 9 people, but almost all weren't YSA aged. Sad. Its ok though. It is super cool getting to be at least a small part in their conversion.
• Soooo I guess I ate something bad on Sunday, because my Book of Mormon reading day yesterday included me throwing up about 5 times. Great πŸ‘ But I still got a good amount of reading in mixed with naps.

Some funny things that made me laugh:
• Us sisters found a lot of fun ways to read the Book of Mormon. Including Sister Palmers folded yoga pose. Pictured below.
• We had 2 men in one day, on two separate occasions, tell us that they don't speak to women so they wouldn't talk to us.... ok.
• We met a lady and her little sister and the woman told us that she doesn't believe in Jesus. Her little sister looked so disgusted and goes " you don't believe in Jesus?!?! YOU DIRTY RAT!!" Wow. So out of pocket.
• So we figured out why my tire kept going flat!! It had a thorn in it!! Mystery solved.
• We were about to head home for the night and we were walking around one of the sketchier parts of our area. All of a sudden like 10 cop cars go by us and then we notice 2 helicopters in the sky searching for someone over us!! We rannnn!

Drum roll pleaseπŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯Sister Rose time!!
This week in our mission we have been focusing on helping our friends gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon!! It has been powerful to see the power that the Book of Mormon holds. People change their lives because of the words in this book. We know the meaning of life because of this book. We learn more about how personal the atonement of Jesus Christ is from this book. And so many other things. I would invite you to read a chapter of this book and pray to know of its truthfulness. I promise it will change your life for the better!!

I love yall!
Sister Rose
