The One Where We Already Got Dirt on Us
Hey yall!!
This was a fire week!! I keep comparing my time now as a missionary to when you first start doing yard work and you are trying no to get your clothes dirt. But then you get one stain of dirt on your shirt and then your like, whatever! Lets get down and dirty. We are already in too deep. So then you just start goin and nothing phases yoou. That is the point of my mission I am at right now and I LOVE it! Let's get into it........
Some happy things and what I learned from them:
• We had Zone Conference this week and it was so awesome!! It was so good to see all my favorite people. Especially my homie sisters from my last apartment (Sister Wright, Palmer, and Jackman, LOVE YOU SISTERS). I just really enjoy getting to gather with fellow missionaries. They strengthen me and teach me SO much!!
• Our friend Tegan got baptized! His parents were inactive members, but im and his mom have been coing to church and we have been teaching them. His mom decided to give the tak on baptism at his baptism and it was so awesome! She mentioned how much she has enjoyed getting to read the scriptures and learn with Tegan!! I love Sister Spearin, she is like a mother to me! Tegan was so excited to be baptized!! His entire deacons quorum showed up!! It was so PRESH (youre welcome grandpa)
• We had a lesson this week wit our friend. It started off with her saying that she didn't believe in Jesus Christ and then after a lot of scriptures, and the spirit, and some fire testimonies from our member. It ended wit her saying that se has a desire to believe in Jesus Christ!! God can work with that!! He can work with a desire! (Alma 32:27)
• I have never been a scriptorian. I could not just pop scriptures off to you all day long and just know them off the top of my head.... but the other day I just started quoting the whole intro to the Book of Mormon and a few other scriptures, that I have never even tried to memorize, I just have read them so many times that I just somehow remembered them. Kinda dope. This is so new for me. I actually KNOW the scriptures!!
• Our cool friend Josh came to church with his little daughter and they LOVED it!! The ward just embraced thema nd amde them feel so loved! I want to be like that when I get home. Let's go out of our way to show love to people more often!!
Some hard things and what I learned from them:
• This week another one of our friends got into anti!! BRUHHH! I always do a palm to the face when they look up one thing and find the first bad thing they can find and then call it a credible soruce. Like did you ever even go to the library in elemntary school and learn how to do research with PRIMARY sources. Some people..... But God still prevails, His church will stand forever, no matter the hate or torment that it gets.
• The people we are teaching, our members, and everybody we ever talk to LOVES to talk. They talk like it is their JOB. I love when people talk to me, butttt I also got places to be, places to see. Our lessons have been soooo long this week and we try sooo hard to get outta there in 30 min.
Some funny things that made me laugh:
• So our mission started this thing called "The Widows Mite". So if anyone in our zone gets in a preventable car crash, then we all have to park our cars and bike for an entire day. Guess who's zone won first place trophy. Mine. But its a good thing I love biking, because I had a blast. My companion not so much, but she was such a good sport. We biked 13 miles in all in our HILLY area.
• It also started raining and my bike was kicking up the water from the road and spraying my butt!! I realized this and screamed ¨Sister!! Does it look like I peed my pants?? Oh no!" It indeed did. Picture included.
• Today a silly elder was not thinking very much and spiked a volleyball very hard into a group of missionaries just sitting around
d and talking. It did indeed obliterate an elder right square in the face. He took it like a champ, but man that has got to hurt.
Drum roll please

Sister Rose time!!

Sister Rose time!!This week I have done some studies on Joy. I read the talk "Joy and Spiritual Survival" By President Nelson. One thing that I took from it was that Joy has nothing to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives. Sometimes President has told me in the past when I have had hard transfers, "what are you doing? Its a commandment to be of good cheer. So be of good cheer" And that is exactly what I needed. Just focus on joy, focus on things that bring you joy, and just have joy!!
Alma 31:38 And the Lord provided for them that they should hunger not, neither should they thirst; yea, and he also gave them strength, that they should suffer no manner of afflictions, save it were swallowed up in the joy of Christ. Now this was according to the prayer of Alma; and this because he prayed in faith.
I read my patriarchal blessing this week and it mentions joy so much! I am grateful for the joy that I have experienced as I have grown and experienced mortality and learned about my Savior Jesus Christ and how I can overcome all things through Him!! So much joy!!
I love yall!
Sister Rose
